I would like to see technology be integrated by our students into their lives seamlessly. Technology should be viewed by our students as a tool to help them achieve their goals, not as an added "thing" or class they must do. Our teachers also may need help viewing technology as a tool, and not just one more thing they must do. I believe we have our work cut out for us in both areas!!

As I work with high school students daily, I utilize techonology and the use of technology continuously. College applications, registering for ACT and SAT tests, completing scholarship applications, and utilizing career and college software -- all have technology as the main tool used. It is a vehicle to these students' future and allows them to dream big dreams and explore interesting careers. They have access to everything the world has to offer. The more that we can connect students to technology and teach them adaptability and the ability to learn, the more we prepare them for the ever-changing future. The future careers revolve around technology, math, science, and engineering fields. We need to prepare our students for these careers.

My name is Michael Corrinet, and I'm a fourth-year teacher here in Hays CISD. I came from California from an area that prized itself on it's technology, yet was amazed to find that Hays was ahead! We had originally come to Texas because we liked the ethics we saw here, and wanted that for our three-year-old daughter, Honor. I've been silent for three years, and it's time for me to speak up, be involved, and help keep the momentum that so inspired me that first year, time to be part of making us educational leaders and innovators.

VisionaryTechnology has changed in the past 35 years since my 1st Technology course (computer assisted Algebra).
I want us to be open to the changes ahead.

Q. Why am I excited to be a part of this action team?Since the initial networking in our district, I've been involved in in the technology integration in our district. I'm excited to be a part of developing our next steps. This strategy is about : The overall district vision, It is not about individual campus initiative. This strategy is about directing our efforts in a way that best utilizes our technological resourcesIt is not about dictating what can be taught or how it's taughtThis strategy is about improving education through appropriate support
It is not about directing education through lack of support.

This is all I can think of for now--would love to hear the others..

This strategy IS about ...
Capacity of our technology infrastructure
Using technology tools to reduce teacher workload and allow for greater productivity.
Equality of technology access across classrooms in our district.
Using technology which cutting edge for the current decade and not the previous decade.

This strategy is NOT about ...
Any particular software application or vendor
Requiring uniformity in technology use across our district.
